EU Delegation Visits Lakho Bhumbhro: Advancing Climate-Resilient Communities in Sindh

In November, the European Union high level mission visited the 200 years old village Lakho Bhumbhro in district Thatta, where the EU-funded and UNIDO-implemented PAIDAR programme is driving sustainable change through community infrastructure interventions under a climate-resilient settlement development plan, in partnership with Sindh People's Housing For Flood Affectees (SPHF) and Catholic Relief Services. Led by Mr. Mario Ronconi, Head of Unit for South and Southeast Asia, DG INTPA, the mission included:

Insights from Mr. Badar ul Islam, UNIDO Programme Coordinator, along with SPHF, CRS representative, and community leaders on settlement planning and sustainability. Mr. Ronconi planting a coconut tree, symbolizing resilience and hope as part of a greening drive. The EU mission also included Mr. Jeroen Willems, Head of Cooperation, Ms. Barbara Riksen, Head of Section, Rural Development & Economic Cooperation, Ms. Laura Vitullo, Desk Officer Pakistan, DG INTPA, Ms. Enrica Montersino, Program Manager, Rural Development & Private Sector Development, and Mr. Carlo De Rosa, Program Manager, Rural Development, Food Security & Nutrition.
